Powerful performance

We’ve given the engine huge power in our entire Pioneer 1000-5 lineup, especially in the midrange and top end. And thanks to the lower gear ratios, you’ll feel quick acceleration and stellar overall performance. Using the same Unicam® cylinder head design found in our motocross bikes, the class-leading 999cc liquid-cooled inline twin is compact, while delivering the kind of horsepower and torque you’d expect from a flagship model.

Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)

Drive the way you want, with the industry’s first and only six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission. Choose between manual mode or fully automatic. Plus, the addition of Sport Mode increases the fun, shifting at higher RPM for a spirited, full-performance driving experience.

Advanced transmission logic

The brain of the DCT, Advanced Transmission Logic, senses how you drive and adapts. Relaxed drivers get earlier shifts for a quieter ride at lower engine speeds. Sportier drivers will hold each gear longer for higher RPM shifts. And when going downhill, you get true engine braking. Now that’s a smart transmission.

Paddle shifting

Steering column-mounted paddle shifters add a serious dose of performance in every drive. In Manual mode, they let you shift without ever taking your hands off the wheel, and in Automatic mode, they let you override the current gear with a quick up or downshift, holding that gear for several seconds before returning to Automatic mode.

Tackle Any Terrain

Venturing over really tricky, rocky terrain, hauling a big load down a steep hill, or need some real hill-climbing ability? The high/low-range sub transmission provides a full 42-percent gear reduction when you switch to the low range.

Intelligent 4WD (i-4WD)

The Pioneer 1000-5P Forest includes a suite of stability assist features designed to make your ride safer, easier and more fun. Using technology inspired by and developed for cars and trucks, i-4WD includes Brake Traction Control System (BTCS), and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). When i-4WD is engaged using the dashboard-mounted lever, BTCS applies additional drive to the tire with more grip, providing better traction without the heavy feel of a differential lock.

Turf Mode

In addition to 2WD and i-4WD, the Pioneer 1000-5P Forest features a Turf mode that’s perfect for sensitive and unpredictable surfaces like grass fields.

Hill Start Assist (HSA)

Getting going when you’re stopped on a hill can be a bit of an adventure – especially when towing or carrying a load. That’s why the Pioneer 1000-5P Forest comes standard with Hill Start Assist. Activated with a dash-mounted button, HSA automatically maintains brake pressure so you can move your foot to the gas pedal and you’re under way. No more need to two-foot it when climbing hills.

Electric Power Steering

Honda pioneered (no pun intended) electric power steering on our side-by-sides. And we’ve never stopped making it better. Every Pioneer 1000-5 features an EPS system with a brushless motor integrated with the ECU. The return-to-centre function makes it intuitive on straight trails, and the whole system feels responsive and linear.

Auto-leveling suspension

When you fill the two rear seats or put a bigger load in the Pioneer 1000-5P Forest bed, the rear suspension is engineered to automatically sense the weight increase and adjusts the ride height to compensate. This helps to maintain ground clearance and maximizes handling and comfort when loaded.

Superior stopping power

With a side-by-side this powerful and capable, you need brakes that are up to the job, too. Honda’s extensive automotive experience means you know the all-wheel disc brake system is up to the task.
additional features

QuickFlipTM seats

Experience ultimate flexibility in seating options. In addition to the comfortable three passenger contoured bench seat up front, the bed incorporates a pair of QuickFlipTM seats that flip up or fold down independently in seconds. Up, they provide secure seating for one or two additional passengers; down, you get a flat cargo bed for utility use.

Powerful towing

You can load a full half-ton (1,000 lb.) into the bed. And when it’s time to unload, the bed’s hydraulic-assisted tilting feature makes dumping firewood, gravel, feed or other items easy. And because it’s able to tow a full ton (more than 2,500 lb.) – with a hitch mount – the Pioneer 1000’s can take on big jobs that otherwise would require a tractor or a truck.

Secure design

The Occupant Protection Structure uses large-diameter tubing and includes integrated handholds, recessed top tubes and a more spacious structure to enhance protection. Hard doors and roll-up side nets provide a secure feel and keep mud and debris out of the cabin, while automotive-style three-point belts with an Emergency Locking Retractor mechanism help keep everyone secure.

LCD Instrument Display

The instrument display is easy to read, with big and bright graphics. The display includes a clutch indicator and a battery-voltage readout too, in addition to speed, fuel level, RPM, transmission mode, water temperature, trip information and more.

Prewired for Accessories

We’ve pre-wired all Pioneer 1000 models for accessory switches, so you don’t have to run a lot of extra wiring. For things like a winch alone, it slashes installation time as well as making the installation easier and cleaner. We’ve even included an extra, integrated grounding terminal.

Accessory Switch Panel

Standard equipment on the Pioneer 1000, the switch panel has room for seven switches, letting you control things like a winch, accessory lights, and more. A fully integrated design, it sits in the centre of the dashboard, underneath the other switches and controls.

Warn winch

This is a huge upgrade and standard equipment on our Pioneer 1000-5 Forest and Trail models. The winch is installed at the factory, and is built right into the Pioneer’s chassis, not added on as an accessory. With a 4500-pound capacity and spooled with steel cable, you’ll be ready to pull your buddy out when he gets stuck!

Forest Edition

The Pioneer 1000-5P Forest is equiped to take on any adventure with it's standard winch, a 12V outlet in the bed, interior and bed lights, cup holders and underseat/underdash storage.
